This Call is Now Closed: Training Through Research Surveys 2018
Placements are on dedicated annual research surveys and are intended primarily for marine oriented graduates, postgraduate students and early stage researchers from higher education institutes across the Island of Ireland. Joining a TTRS survey is an opportunity to gain offshore experience, develop new skills and learn on the job with established research scientists and research leaders.

- CE18009 Western European Shelf Pelagic Acoustic Survey (WESPAS) Leg 1: 9th to 28th June (20 Days). No longer taking applications.
- CE18010 WESPAS Leg 2: 3rd to 24th July (22 Days). No longer taking applications.
- CE18016 Celtic Sea Herring Acoustic Survey: 7th to 27th October (21 Days)

TTRS participants are responsible for costs incurred in travelling to and from survey ports.
Requirements
- Applicants should be marine oriented graduates, postgraduate students or reasearchers.
- Participants must hold a valid ENG11 medical certificate and a Personal Survival Techniques (PST) certificate (STCW95).
- Applicants should have some prior sea going experience.
Please note ENG11 medical certificates must be renewed every two years and PST certification renewed every five years.

TTRS Surveys are supported by the Marine Institute. Grant-aided shiptime is carried out under the Strategic Marine Research & Innovation Agenda of the Integrated Marine Plan for Ireland (Harnessing Our Ocean Wealth) under the Marine Research sub-programme of the Irish Government. Participation in surveys is by agreement with the survey Chief Scientist. Applications are invited from graduates, postgraduate students and early stage researchers from across the Island of Ireland.
