A Marine Science and Technology Partnership Programme for the island of Ireland

CE22004 & CE22007: Irish Anglerfish and Megrim Survey

This survey is the sixth in a series began by the Marine Institute in 2016. The main purpose of the survey is to provide additional information for the assessment of the monkfish and megrim stocks around Ireland and to extend maturity sampling for other commercial species. Sampling will take place in waters to the west and north of Ireland with demersal trawl gear.

Sampling protocols will focus on collecting biometric data for monkfish and megrim and other commercial species and benthic invertebrates. Participants will develop practical and organisational skills in all aspects of biological sampling, data recording, screening, saving and survey operations.

The 2021 survey legs are:

  • CE22005 Leg 1: 5th to 17th of February
  • CE22005Leg 2: 17th of February to the 1st of March

The closing date for applications for leg 2 is Wednesday 19th of January.

The closing date for applications for leg 3 is Friday 25th of February.
